Rowing at Bosporos

Originally, Bosporos entered rowing events under its own name. However, more recently the club has joined forces with a few ex Cambridge rowers to row as 1829 Boat Club - a club that has already made a name for itself.

1829 BC is the most successful club ever to row at Henley. It has entered 3 times and won twice (with the third crew reaching the Saturday)However, it also operates as an informal club where members can take boats out for one off ad-hoc or regular outings.

It enables you to row with good, like-minded, ex-OUBC rowers with decent equipment without massive annual subscription fees or the pain that goes with joining one of the bigger London rowing clubs.

  • You can just use it socially on a Sunday afternoon during the summer.
  • You can use it is a base to train seriously and enter to win a big event like Henley.

The club is also invited to take part in foreign regattas on a regular basis. Past trips have included short breaks to Poland, Zambia, Turkey and the South of France. Going forward, paying Bosporos members will get priority when it comes to invitations as a reward for their membership and support of the OUBC.
